Overview
Rumaa is a relatively small desert planet whose surface is dominated by vast mineral deserts, eroded plateaus, and ancient canyons shaped by millions of years of geological activity. Although it possesses a breathable atmosphere, the absence of surface water and complex ecosystems has prevented significant colonization.
Its value to the USF comes from its abundant Plastirion deposits, which have given rise to several mining operations and refining facilities across the planet’s richest regions. Thanks to its position along a moderately traveled trade route, Rumaa maintains a small spaceport and an administrative center that oversees mining operations and the flow of cargo ships transporting the mineral to major industrial worlds throughout the Zuthorios Sector.
Planetary View
From space, Rumaa displays a subdued palette dominated by sandy yellow, beige, light gray, and subtle ochre tones. Its surface is crossed by enormous canyon systems and geological fractures that form an intricate network visible from orbit, while extensive eroded plateaus cover much of the planet.
Thin white clouds drift across certain regions without significantly obscuring the terrain. There are no oceans or permanent polar ice caps, giving the planet a dry and relatively uniform appearance.
At night, only a few clusters of lights are visible from orbit, marking mining complexes, refineries, and the main spaceport. These isolated settlements emphasize Rumaa’s character as a sparsely populated industrial world where most activity is concentrated in a handful of locations.
Surface View
Rumaa’s surface conveys a sense of vastness and isolation. The horizon stretches across endless plains of yellowish and gray rock, interrupted by enormous canyons, eroded ridges, and plateaus rich in silicates.
Under the light of its G-class star, the terrain takes on a muted golden hue during the day and becomes increasingly gray as evening approaches. The air is dry, winds constantly carry fine layers of dust across the ground, and vegetation is practically nonexistent.
Amid this barren landscape stand enormous open-pit mines, automated excavators, compact refineries, and extensive transport lines connecting extraction sites to the spaceport. Beyond these industrial installations, Rumaa remains silent and largely uninhabited, with a mineral landscape that stretches uninterrupted toward the horizon.
Fauna and Flora
Subterranean extremophile microorganisms; no known macroscopic native species.
