Overview
Ibsodom is a swamp-covered planet where enormous peatlands, dark lakes, and permanent wetlands cover much of the surface. Its stable environmental conditions and near-absence of tidal fluctuations allow Ceri grain to be cultivated across vast agricultural regions, making the planet one of the Core’s principal food suppliers.
Strict environmental protection laws limit urban expansion, concentrating settlements on elevated, stable terrain surrounded by agricultural fields and protected wilderness. Numerous scientific stations study the unique biodiversity of its wetlands, while extensive nature reserves preserve ecosystems that have remained largely undisturbed for millennia.
Planetary View
From space, Ibsodom displays enormous continents in deep green and dark brown, interwoven with intricate networks of blackwater lakes, rivers, and wetlands. These patterns cover much of the planetary surface, creating a distinctive landscape visible from orbit.
Deep blue oceans contrast with extensive white cloud systems that drift slowly through the atmosphere. Small polar ice caps mark the planet’s northern and southern extremes, while subtle clusters of artificial lights reveal agricultural settlements and scientific installations on the night side.
A thin blue atmospheric glow surrounds the entire planet, emphasizing its curvature against the darkness of space. From orbit, Ibsodom appears calm, fertile, and almost entirely dominated by natural ecosystems.
Surface View
The surface of Ibsodom is characterized by seemingly endless wetlands, enormous moss formations, tall reeds, and extensive Ceri grain fields stretching toward the horizon. The sky is frequently overcast, with occasional breaks in the clouds allowing the pale yellow-white sunlight to reflect across the dark, still waters.
Large migratory birds glide above the wetlands, while blackwater fish and enormous filter-feeding invertebrates inhabit the deeper channels. Ancient mosses cover the damp ground, forming thick carpets around the waterways and agricultural areas.
Settlements are built on elevated terrain or reinforced platforms surrounded by canals, research facilities, and protected wilderness. The air is humid and cool, and the landscape is filled with the sounds of flowing water, distant wildlife, and wind moving through the vegetation.
