Overview
Goztos is a virtually untouched jungle world where nature dominates almost the entire planetary surface. Its immense rainforests are home to the Atherea plant, which produces a powerful and highly addictive hallucinogenic substance of considerable value on the black market.
During the period when the system belonged to the former Galactic Federation, numerous pirates, smugglers, and criminal cartels secretly infiltrated the planet to harvest and extract Atherea. Following its incorporation into the USF, Goztos was declared a restricted world and placed under permanent military surveillance.
There are no civilian settlements or permanent civilian inhabitants. The only occupied facility is a military base built within a region where Atherea cannot naturally grow, allowing personnel to operate without the risk of accidental exposure to the plant.
Beyond its security responsibilities, the USF also uses Goztos as one of its primary training grounds for military operations in extreme jungle environments. Despite strict military control, illegal groups still attempt to infiltrate the wilderness in search of Atherea, although very few manage to escape the planet successfully.
Planetary View
From orbit, Goztos displays enormous continents covered in dense layers of deep green vegetation, almost appearing black in some regions. These dark landmasses contrast sharply with the planet’s vast, deep-blue oceans. Extensive white cloud formations constantly sweep across the equatorial regions, fueled by the immense humidity generated by the surrounding rainforests. Powerful tropical storms frequently develop over the oceans and continental interiors, with enormous cloud systems visible from space.
Small polar ice caps can be seen near the planet’s extremities. There are no visible urban concentrations or widespread artificial lights on the night side. Only the faint illumination of the isolated USF military installation can occasionally be distinguished, surrounded by an immense expanse of darkness. From orbit, Goztos appears almost entirely untouched by civilization.
Surface View
The surface of Goztos is covered by extraordinarily dense jungles, where sunlight struggles to penetrate the enormous canopy formed by ancient trees. The atmosphere is warm, humid, and heavy, carrying the distinctive scents of thousands of plant species. Giant vines, enormous ferns, massive exposed roots, and winding rivers dominate the landscape, while persistent mist hangs between the trees.
The sky is rarely visible except through occasional openings in the canopy, where the pale yellow-white sunlight filters through the vegetation. The constant sounds of insects, reptiles, birds, and large predators accompany anyone moving through the wilderness. Frequent rainfall keeps the ground saturated and the vegetation perpetually lush.
The overall environment feels completely untamed, with nature dominating every corner of the planet and countless dangers hidden beneath its vegetation.
