Overview
Albamir V is a polar world where wind is the dominant force shaping the landscape. Rather than extensive mountain ranges or irregular glaciers, much of its surface is covered by enormous dunes of compacted snow and ice crystals that slowly shift under seasonal winds. The snow has a fine, dry texture resembling desert sand, forming endless white waves that stretch across vast frozen plains.
Despite an average temperature of approximately -28 °C, the climate can be harsh due to persistent winds and frequent snowstorms that constantly reshape the terrain. The planet has no native species or established natural ecosystems.
Its only permanent settlement is Borealias, a small mining town built inside a narrow valley surrounded by frozen elevations. These natural formations block most of the powerful winds, creating a relatively calm environment where residents can live and work. The settlement’s economy revolves around mineral extraction from the frozen underground terrain.
Planetary View
From orbit, Albamir V appears as an almost entirely white sphere with subtle ivory and blue-gray tones. Vast fields of frozen dunes create delicate wave-like patterns across its surface, while completely frozen oceans blend almost seamlessly with the surrounding terrain. A clear atmosphere produces a faint bluish glow around the planet, and scattered, thin clouds allow most of the frozen landscape to remain visible from space. During nighttime, a tiny point of light can be seen on the surface, marking the location of the mining settlement of Borealias.
Surface View
The surface is dominated by endless dunes of compacted snow stretching as far as the horizon. Under the pale golden-white light of its F-class star, millions of ice crystals reflect sunlight, giving the landscape a subtle shimmering appearance. Across the exposed plains, strong winds lift fine snow particles and carry them across the surface like desert sand, constantly creating new dune formations.
However, the environment changes considerably upon reaching the valley where Borealias is located. The surrounding frozen hills block most of the wind, creating a surprisingly peaceful environment. The town consists of low-profile modular buildings, mining machinery, storage facilities, and cargo vehicles scattered across a broad snow-covered area.
