Overview
Brillian is one of the twin planets in the Brillin system. From space, it appears to be a barren, rocky world with reddish-brown terrain and an atmosphere surrounding its rugged surface. Although the atmosphere is breathable, the intense radiation emitted by its star makes prolonged exposure outdoors without protection dangerous, potentially causing severe radiation damage.
Brillian’s history began with an underground mining station established to exploit its enormous deposits of Metarion and other high-density minerals buried deep within its crust. As mining operations expanded, workers discovered an extensive natural cave system containing underground rivers, crystal-clear lakes, and lush vegetation thriving in an environment shielded from the radiation above.
This discovery transformed the planet’s future. What began as a mining outpost gradually developed into a permanent settlement, eventually becoming a single large city built within the natural caverns. Today, nearly the entire population lives underground, surrounded by the beauty of the subterranean environment. The surface is reserved exclusively for automated mining facilities, maintenance installations, and access points operated by mechanical personnel consisting of droids.
Brillian’s caves form an immense network of interconnected passages whose full extent remains unknown. Some geologists believe the system may extend across almost the entire planet, connecting underground regions that have yet to be explored. Mining operations continue to descend into the deepest layers of the crust in search of additional Metarion deposits, making Brillian an important mineral extraction center within its region.
Planetary View
From orbit, Brillian appears as a small, barren world dominated by reddish-brown, rust-colored, and gray terrain. Its surface is covered with eroded mountain ranges, broad rocky plains, deep canyons, and extensive geological fractures. A thin atmospheric haze and wispy clouds partially soften the rugged landscape, while a subtle atmospheric glow outlines the planet against the darkness of space.
No cities or major settlements are visible from orbit, as civilization remains hidden beneath the crust. Only a few industrial installations, mining complexes, and large artificial access structures can be distinguished on closer inspection. Its twin world, Brillien, orbits nearby within the same star system.
Surface View
Brillian’s surface consists of vast rocky deserts, eroded mountain ranges, and deep geological fissures beneath a sky illuminated by the system’s bright F-type star. The reddish terrain absorbs much of the light, giving the landscape a warm, rust-colored appearance. Although the air is breathable, intense stellar radiation makes prolonged outdoor exposure hazardous without adequate protection.
The only active personnel on the surface are maintenance and mining droids, which operate extraction facilities, transport equipment, and access structures leading underground. There are no permanent civilian settlements above the crust.
Just a few hundred meters below the surface, the environment changes dramatically. Enormous natural caverns contain the planet’s only major city, surrounded by underground rivers, crystal-clear lakes, and abundant vegetation. Massive stone pillars, stalactites, and natural rock formations rise above the settlement, while bridges, transport corridors, and tunnels connect different sections of the subterranean landscape.
Beyond the city, the cave network extends into unexplored regions of the planet. Deep mining shafts descend toward mineral-rich geological layers, where some of Brillian’s largest Metarion deposits remain under extraction.
