Overview
Maanda is an immense oceanic planet entirely covered by a vast, uninterrupted ocean. It has no continents or exposed landmasses, and all life on its surface depends on floating platforms, oceanic cities, or the extensive ecosystems beneath the waves. Its deep blue waters support extraordinary biodiversity, ranging from enormous coral formations to deep-sea trenches inhabited by colossal marine creatures.
The planet’s most valuable resource is TOLKAN, a regenerative biomedical fluid produced by endemic marine organisms. Its remarkable therapeutic and regenerative properties make it one of the most strategically important medical resources in the galaxy.
The native Zell evolved to thrive in aquatic environments and developed an advanced civilization that combines enormous floating cities with sophisticated underwater metropolises. While floating cities serve as centers of commerce, industry, and multicultural settlement, the submerged cities are inhabited primarily by the Kalset and aquatic immigrant species, preserving their traditions and aquatic way of life.
Orbiting the planet is the Maanda Galactic Hospital, one of the most advanced medical facilities in the United Systems Federation (USF). Supplied with TOLKAN and other marine-derived compounds, it treats patients from across the galaxy and serves as a major center for advanced medicine and regenerative therapies.
Planetary View
From space, Maanda appears as an enormous sphere of deep, vivid blue, with no visible continents or exposed land. Its entire surface is covered by an immense ocean whose subtle variations in color reflect differences in depth and underwater ecosystems.
Extensive white cloud systems stretch across the planet in sweeping bands and swirling formations, creating a striking contrast against the dark blue waters. Sunlight from its F-class star illuminates the upper atmosphere with a pale blue glow, while the planet’s shadowed hemisphere gradually fades into darkness.
During the night, scattered chains of lights reveal the locations of major floating cities across the ocean. The submerged metropolises remain mostly hidden beneath the waves, although some of their illumination can be faintly detected in particularly shallow waters. The Galactic Hospital occupies a prominent orbit above the planet, but remains a separate orbital structure rather than part of its visible surface.
Surface View
Standing on one of Maanda’s floating cities, the horizon reveals an uninterrupted ocean stretching in every direction. The water is deep blue, with lighter shades appearing where sunlight penetrates shallow reefs and underwater formations.
The sky is a brilliant blue, crossed by broad white clouds illuminated by the bright, white-golden light of the F-class star. Ocean breezes move between elegant white and blue buildings, while waves break gently against the platforms supporting residential districts, research facilities, and commercial centers.
Beneath these structures, enormous manta-like creatures glide through the water alongside schools of luminous fish and giant marine serpents. Vast underwater forests of algae and intricate coral formations support ecosystems that remain largely unexplored.
Far below the surface lie the great submerged cities of the Kalset. Their transparent domes, reinforced underwater structures, and interconnected passages accommodate aquatic inhabitants who prefer life beneath the waves. At night, bioluminescent organisms illuminate the waters with scattered blue and white points of light. The lights of floating cities reflect across the waves, creating the impression of a star-filled sky extending both above and beneath the ocean.
